Instructions:

Row 1 (RS): P2, *sl1 purlwise, K2, psso the 2 k sts, P2*; repeat betwen * * until the end of the row.
Row 2 (WS): K2, *P1, yo, P1, K2*; repeat between * * until the end of the row.
Row 3: P2, *K3, P2*; repeat between * * until the end of the row.
Row 4: K2, *P3,K2*; repeat between * * until the end of the row.

Abbreviations:

K: knit
P: purl
sl: slip
psso: pass slipped stitch over
yo: yarn over
RS: right side
WR: wrong side
